Lausanne – this hidden Swiss gem has something for everyone

Fast-forward half a day from lunch, though, and we’re having dinner at Eat Me (eat-me.ch) – a suggestively-named yet super-chic restaurant and cocktail lounge that specialises in small plates that take you on a gastronomic journey across Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa. On a Saturday night, it’s bustling with conversation and the clink of glasses, and is about as far away as you can get from the other end of the spectrum, where Le Café du Grütli sat. It’s a little pricier, too, but the food is immaculately prepared – again, with locally-sourced produce being the order of the day. Brilliant name aside, The Sassy Duck was a definite favourite; a tender and succulent duck breast glazed with Cambodian Kampot black pepper, and paired with mangos and an enticing lime-infused carrot and coconut purée.
